About Open Adoption
For birth parents we offer confidentiality,
guidance and encouragement during and after the adoption.
We care about what you want and need and have been helping
birth families of all ages nationwide with their adoption
plans for over 15 years.
You might be pregnant with an unplanned
pregnancy or have a child who is already born. You may be
a friend or family member of someone who is pregnant and
seeking resources and help. Adoption is one option to consider.
Many resources are available at no cost to the placing parents—referred
to as the “birth mother” or “birth parent.” You
will find this term used throughout the site and in the free
material you can request here.
You will find on our site "Dear
Birthmother letters" which have been written just for
perspective birthmothers by pre-screened and waiting adoptive
parents, explaining their life and what they can offer a
child through adoption.
When you find one or more adoptive parents
you are interested in speaking to or emailing, you can contact
one of the qualified adoption coordinators who work with
birthparents to help them find just the right match in adoptive
parents. They will help the birthparents make an adoption
plan for their baby. Each coordinator is a caring woman who
has a desire to help women facing an unplanned pregnancy
with choices in parenting or adoption. We have many resources
to help and we never charge birth families for these services. Click here to view a current listing of birthparents who are seeking adoption information and adoptive parents for their babies and children.
More and more we are seeing other members
of the birth family becoming involved in the adoption plan
process. This often includes the parents of the birth mother.
Birthfathers are welcome to be as involved as they like,
working with the birthmother on adoptive parent selection
and decisions about degrees of openness for the adoption.
Birthparents have many choices in developing the adoption
plan.
Today, only about about 25% of birthfathers
are involved in the adoption planning process. However, this
figure is growing as open adoption is becoming more requested
and more women are choosing adoption for their babies and
older children.
